The GREAT CANADIAN FIDDLE and Other Folklore

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

I'd like to introduce the followers of the Scratchy Attic to a new blog, "The Great Canadian Fiddle and Other Canadian Musical Folklore". As many of you may have noticed, posts to the Attic have slowed to a trickle. This is because I find I have less time to transfer material and annotate posts as I would like. However, I have a great deal of musical Canadiana archived and have decided to share it in the hopes that it will prove useful not only to casual listeners but to radio programmers and musicians as well, as obtaining this sort of material can often prove difficult.
The new blog does not feature any write ups, just track listings and of course the downloads include jacket and label scans where possible. I simply want to share the wealth of Canadiana that I have archived from LPs, cassettes, and 8-tracks for posterity. There are already over 100 albums posted!
I will still post to the Scratchy Attic when time permits as I have plenty great roots music of all varieties to share. If you are in need of a daily music fix however, go check out "The Great Canadian Fiddle and Other Canadian Musical Folklore"!

Can't tell you how happy I am to find out about this new blog. Living in the USA, at least where I reside, we just don't get exposure to this kind of music and I just love the stuff. I've been busy already this morning looking through what you have out there and finding that basically everything is of interest. You are appreciated for what you do in sharing and I know that goes unsaid far too often.
Thanks again.
